Assisted suicide

Assisted suicide would be killing someone I'd imagine. What is the difference between assisted suicide and murder? The only difference seems to be tied in with the word suicide and intent. Assisted suicide seems to be another term for euthanasia (which is defined as the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die). It does pertains to killing for medical reasons which may or may not be excluded from the definition of assisted suicide. The legality of assisting someone commit suicide would change greatly depending on the circumstance. If someone truly wants to die should they be deprived death? It would seem the correct answer would be no. Of course that does not mean that someone should kill them. It is a tricky matter because it seems that it is alright to assist yourself if you wish to die but you may not be assisted by anyone else. It sounds more like a satire of life. Assisted suicide would have to take place in a court of law to establish a legitimate motive therefore rectifying the desire to die and the need for help. I would say assisted suicide is "right" in certain circumstances, but the decision is not up to me. The biggest problem would be convincing the law that it was indeed an "assisted suicide" and not murder - good luck.

I have been raised with typical holidays. My family gets together and the appropriate traditions fallow. I don't agree with the original purposes for most holidays (e.g. Christmas, Easter). However, I think holidays serve a great purpose. They provide a time for families to get together and support the eager imaginations of children. Holidays are a great sense of optimism. This could be argued of course but for most people i believe it holds true. On an economical level holidays increase spending helping the economy. The health factor is not, however, a problem. Eating a bowl of gravy one day a year wont kill anyone... unless they have been smoking, drinking, and eating unhealthily all the time. This is where a bigger problem lies. Sports as well are a horrible drain on the economy. They turn people in to zombies (most likely drunk zombies at that).

The media does influence us all. As a matter of fact everything influences all of us. Whether it is the most miniscule thing to life changing we are influences by everything we come in contact with. Recently, the media has been impacting me in a very negative and infuriating way. For example, I was at the mall with my brother. We were just walking around talking and we came upon a store with two half naked guys standing in front of it. I was amazed. I have made comment about stores like Victoria's Secret using poll strippers instead of manic-ans. I have spoken of such things happening but i had always hoped it wouldn't. Exploiting the bodies of pre-teens to sell clothes. NO! They are not using them to sell clothes because they're not even wearing any! They are selling sex to little pre-teens. It is completely and utterly ridiculous. What is the next step? Two people having sex in front of the story? Possibly but two get a hand job free? Even worse is the resulting commercial feedback loop. If one store has a naked chick every guy is going to shop there. So what will the competing stores do? They will try and top what store X is doing. What has happened to our society!?

As humans we label everything. We put things in boxes to make understanding easier. We notice color, shape, etc. no equivocations. The argument could be made that if your listening to rape (a genre that consists of three topics: drugs, sex, and killing) you are a vulgarian with no respect for anything. Then again i could be labeled as a metal head. I do listen to Slayer occasionally which screams about killing, ethnic cleansing, and much more. I don't however do any such things. I listen to Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, classical music, and other genres that are completely contradictory. I think it is irrelevant whether i find labeling right or wrong because we will inevitably and inertly do it. Music is a part of us, it is not what we are...obviously.

I am so glad that Chicago was not chosen to host the 2016 Olympics. Our taxes are way higher than they should be. Also, would the damn government lower the taxes once it was over? Of course not! Taxes began during the Civil War and were supposed to be repealed... and they were, but they obviously were reinstated. How many decades has it been since the Civil War? Who still has income taxes?
Besides the point it once again shows the flaws and lies of our governing politicians. I also am glad because it shot down our president (the messiah). I was furious when i heard advertisements for the Olympic games on buses. I use public transportation (much to my dismay) and was forced to listen to the governments attempted conditioning. They had an Olympian speaking about how great it would be. They included nationalism in it as well. Do you think they mentioned all the traffic, wast/garbage, taxes, that were going to increase as well?

Eat_Meat

This is a very controversial topic in our society. I would undoubtedly say yes, meat should be eaten. As a species we have been eating meat for millions of years. I can only speculate as to why we are now having an attack of conscience. As a species (or as Americans) we feel we are "God's" gift to earth. It is our duty to save the earth. People think of the animals that are being slaughtered and they fall apart. If animals were treated better and not wasted as much people would probably be a lot less upset (but then how humane can you treat an animal that you are about to slaughter?). If animals were killed when food was needed rather than when they could be it would seem much better. Then again our entire society would be thrown off as well. The convenience of Jewel wouldn't quite be the same.

Movies

Movies can influence people. Movies can affect our minds and imaginations. They are not however to blame for the choices that people make. They is what we call not taking responsibility for our actions. Violence and sex sells so that is what is going to be on the screens. Humans are instinctually drawn to such things. Humans love to destroy things or see things be destroyed. We are sadists through and through. That being said, movies and other influential aspects of media do just that, influence. They are not to blame though. The parents could be blamed for how they raised their children but it is varies case to case. A parent can not be blamed for having a child born mentally handicapped (well they can because it is their genes), but they can be blamed for promoting violent behavior. What a child experiences while he or she is growing is everything. Humans learn through what they see and if what they see is neglect, rage, violence, and or other similar behavior how can they be expected to do different?

Drinking

The drinking age, as it is now, is unconstitutional. The government is limiting what the citizens can and cannot do. I understand that drinking at a young age can be dangerous to not only the person drinking but others as well. But when a young man at the age of eighteen can be shipped of to war against his will I do believe he, or she, should be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. At the age of eighteen people are seen as adults, whether its true or not. Things that are directly correlated with drinking, such as drinking and driving, should have limitations. The reason for this is because the choices of drinkers may interfere with the rights of others.

Success is what?

Success is very subjective. I would say success is dependent on whether a person is happy or not. A person could be filthy rich and miserable, just as a homeless person may be happy. Our society has framed this image of success correlating to money, and for a lot of reasons it makes sense. Money equals power now a days. Those who have money can get what they want and desire. The conflict portrayed by this is materialism. People believe they have everything yet they have nothing. Whether this is true or not I can not say. Success in my book, however, would be an amalgam of both. I would like to be a performing artist (i.e. rockstar). As unlikely and stereotypical as it is I do. I have pored all but maybe nine years of my life to reach this goal. I have put out demo’s, made shirts, put on countless shows, practiced my heart out on several instruments as well as other things. I don’t see my not being a rockstar yet as a failure because I find myself happy. I love playing in a band with people as well as performing live. I must say I haven’t made but a few hundred dollars but it is a goal I will strive to achieve because it is what I find fun and enjoyable.

Capitalism vs. Cameras

America has grown as a free county with a capitalist society. A society in which the individual can rise or fall depending on their work and dedication - free market. Free market is one of the great aspects of America. A free market by definition is a market without government regulation or other forms of intervention. The government’s sole purpose is to protect individual rights and the constitution is meant to ensure that the government does just that. Lately, and no thanks to the new socialist infection plaguing our country, we have taken a turn in a different direction. Corporations deemed inadequate by our economy have been hoisted out of bankruptcy. Taxes are continuously increasing. Regulations (i.e. price floors and ceilings) have been placed on goods such as gas. Laws have been passed revoking rights for years without repeals. Movements have been made to issue a socialized health care system. America by no means has retained an economy with minimal government intervention.

If anyone questions lady liberty’s ill state ask yourselves these questions. Is it right that at the age of 18 a young man can be taken from his home? Is it right that he can be shoved in a bus with a gun and be shipped half way across the world? Is it right that he can die for his freedom and yet if he desired to not legally enjoy an alcoholic beverage for three more years? I personally do not drink nor do I understand the constant desire the become intoxicated, but something is wrong here. Taxpayers work through blood and sweat for their money. The government then takes it and gives it to a neighbor on public aid that can’t find a job because he or she is an alcoholic, or it is given to a fifteen year old girl who has three kids because she can’t keep her legs shut, or it is given to the city to put cameras on the streets to ticket those same taxpayers if they happen to run a red light.

America is known as the land of opportunity. The land where someone can turn three pennies into millions. Though it may be a corny cliche it holds some truth. This country is being ruined by lazy people who expect everything to be given to them. These people sit on their couches electing officials that will give them what they want, free money. Americans seem to desire an existence depicted in George Orwell’s 1984. The country seems to be pushing for complete government control. What usually happens when one force is given power?... its never given back! The people of America need to start excepting responsibility for their actions and do something about our country. WE need to stop caring so much about who’s gay and a little bit more about who’s being robbed of the freedom THEY deserve. Ergo, stop following an empty saying such as "change" and stand up for your rights as an American!
